ROPAX Jetty Project Sanctioned Rs.50 Crore
The Government of India recently sanctioned Rs 50 crore for developing Ropax Jetty Project an all-weather ROPAX in Odisha. The total cost of the project is estimated at Rs. The project aims to launch a roll-on or roll-off passenger jetty to connect Kanali in Bhadrak district and Talchua in Kendrapara district.
About the Ropax Jetty Project
The project will reduce travel time from 6 hours to one hour. The contact points of the jetty are located on the northern and southern banks of the Dhamra river.
The launch of the Jetty Service will enhance business activities and commercial activities and also enhance the economic condition of the sector.
Dhamra River (Dhamra River)
The Dhamra river is a combined stream formed by the confluence of baitarani and Brahminrivers.
It falls in the Bay of Bengal.
It is located in the Bhadrak district of Odisha.
Dhamra port is located north of its mouth.
The Gahiratha Sanctuary is located near the mouth of the Dhamra river.
In addition, the Inner Kanika Wildlife Sanctuary is located at dharma mouth.
Wheeler Island is also located at the mouth of Dhamra. Wheeler Island is a DRDO launch center.
Gahirmatha Sanctuary (Gahirmatha Sanctuary)
It is the most important nesting site of Olive Ridley (Olive Ridley) sea turtles. The inner mangrove separates the nesting space of the turtles. Olive Ridley Sea turtles have been placed under the weaker category in the red list IUCN of endangered species. Further, they are placed under Schedule 1 of the Wildlife (Protection) Act, 1972 of India.
